Water Recycling

Water is the most important source for human survival and development. So far, water crisis is still a major problem that has been faced by many countries in the world, including China and Australia. With the improvement of living standards and the construction of regional ecological environment project, ecological and landscape water demand have increased greatly, which would further grow tension between the supply and demand of water resources.

Sewage resource has two features: large-amount and near-source. Domestic and industrial waste water emissions take up more than 80% of the amount of water consumption, which is very high. The distance between domestic and industrial waste water are close, thus can be conveniently combined and recycle. Therefore, sewage resources are the most economical, convenient and reasonable water resources for industrial, ecological and environmental development, which brings water recycle becoming a very important part of human life.

The fundamental way is to treat sewage as a valuable resource, utilize natural and urban resources and strengthen the natural water cycle with low consumption, high efficiency and large-scale practice. In 2000, urban regeneration water started to be widely used in Sydney Olympic Village, including large-area irrigation, toilet flushing, fire control, laundry, fountain and air conditioning. The process of recycling water in Sydney contains a series of new and proven technologies, which come from biological process, micro-filtration and anti-filtration process. The water recycle system includes rainwater collection, sewage collection, sewage treatment, two water supply network( regeneration water and drinking water ) and integrated urban water cycle management( Water & Catchments, 2014).

Water recycling can not only greatly reduce the pressure of water shortage, but also protect the water environment and become the best way of ecological and environmental water use.
