The Dr Chau Chak Building is the building of UTS (University of Technology, Sydney) Business School, which is designed by Frank Gehry, a famous architect in the world. The building is named after Dr Chau Chak who donated $20 million to the project. It is located in the south of the Sydney CBD near the Central Park and now has become one of the Sydney landmarks.

According to Frank Gehry, the Dr Chau Chak Building is shaped like a ‘tree house’ on a cafe napkin which is designed to encourage interaction -- imagining a building where people can undertake quiet, focused work in offices and other rooms in its ‘branches’ then meet in formal and informal social spaces in the ‘trunk’(UTS, 2014). It is generally known that interaction is the most important fact in business.

The east side of the building is made of sand-colored bricks, while the west side is made of angular glass reflecting the city. It represents the link of modern city of Sydney and its brick urban heritage.

In summary, the theme of interaction reveals the Dr Chau Chak Building’s role as a building of business school. In addition, the double-facade design makes the building become a great landmark in Sydney.
