Food safety is a scientific discipline describing handling, preparation, and storage of food in ways that prevent foodborne illness. This includes a number of routines that should be followed to avoid potentially severe health hazards. The tracks within this line of thought are safety between industry and the market and then between the market and the consumer. In considering industry to market practices, food safety considerations include the origins of food including the practices relating to food labeling, food hygiene, food additives and pesticide residues, as well as policies on biotechnology and food and guidelines for the management of governmental import and export inspection and certification systems for foods. Britain is one of the earliest countries which paid attention to food safety and to formulate relevant laws. With its complete system, strict legislation, clear regulatory responsibility and concrete measurement, it forms a mature food safety management system based on legislation and supervision. In 1984, Britain developed Food Law, Food Safety Law, Food Standard Law and Food Sanitation Law and also introduced a number of regulations, such as Food Labeling Regulations, Food Hygiene Regulations, Food Additives Regulations, etc. In 1997, the British government set up the Food Standards Agency to strengthen the supervision. The agency is independent and not affiliated with any government departments. It is responsible forgeneral affairs and the regulate standards about food safety. Health secretary is in charge of implementation and to submit annual report to Congress  The Food Standards Agency also established a special working group, headed by the chief executive officer of the Agency, to strengthen monitoring of the food chain.

Food is a daily necessity. The quality of food is related to the health and life of the citizen. However, in some developing countries, food safety has not caused attention, where food has caused many health problems.
